New Immigration Law in Thai

I. Introduction

A. Immigration rules could always bring worry and fear in any kind of population.

B. Human-rights groups believe that this law could bring bad consequences for immigrants, and it should be taken with precautions.

C. New immigration rules in Thai could bring a positive aspect to this country and their migrants; however, it also could bring consequences for them.

II. Body

A. Rule

1. Register with Thai authorities to verify their nationalities, or be deported of the country.

a. Protection to migrants from discrimination and abuse.

b. Regulate security threats or health risks coming from foreign workers.

c. Regulate number of migrants at any time.

d. Tighten public health supervision (vaccines).

e. Legalize migrant’s status under Thai laws.

B. Consequences

1. Disadvantage competing with China and India in production.

a. Reduction of number of migrants could affect Thailand’s economy.

b. Thai people don’t want to work in the migrant’s field.

2. Checking their nationalities with their government could bring migrants punishment or penalties.

a. Past history of mistreatment by Thai authorities.

b. Fear to be subject of repercussions if they come back home or their families could be harassed when their governments are aware of their current occupation.

III. Conclusion

A. New immigration rules in Thailand caused a big polemic because all its positive and negative facets for migrants and citizens.

B. It is understandable that Thai government wanted to have control of those who worked there, as is the reaction of migrants, to avoid harassment or repercussions from their native government only for a job that actually is helping Thai’s economy.
